A Hiberno-Norse freewoman and widow of a Dublin slave trader who was killed fighting the Irish, Kai arrived on the Wirral after the fall of Dublin in 902.

Using the limited wealth that she escaped the fall of Dublin with, she set herself up in a small homestead on the north bank of the Dee Estuary.

The produce of the homestead, mainly butter and cheese, she sells or trades in the local markets.
